Wakefield lies on the eastern edge of The Pennines in the lower Calder Valley. Landmarks include the Chantry Bridge over the River Calder, the ruins of Sandal Castle, Wakefield Cathedral and The National Trust Nostell Priory.

Wakefield has been regenerated over the last 15 years with lots of new developments, changing the industrial face of its past. Trinity Walk provides retail space along with The Ridings Shopping Mall. The “Wakefield Waterfront” includes office, retail, restaurants and cafes making the most of the river and canal views.

Wakefield is also home to The Hepworth Wakefield Art Gallery, which is named in honour of local sculptor, Barbara Hepworth. This award winning art gallery is said to be one of the finest contemporary art museums in the UK. With 10 individual gallery spaces you will be sure to find something that inspires, provokes or just makes you smile.
